As a veteran owned business, Eagle Metal understands the need to rally around our troops. Our Chairman, Tom Whatley says “Eagle Metal is a group of dedicated professionals who share two core values: A warrior’s spirit to work hard, innovate and persevere. A servant’s heart to treat others with respect and always give that something extra in helping every customer succeed.” We are proud to acknowledge our customer and friend Jack Dermer of American Truss Systems for donating the trusses on a mortgage-free home for U.S. Army SPC Thomas Brinch provided to him through the non-profit Operation FINALLY HOME.

According to Operation FINALLY HOME Brinch joined the Army in 2004 immediately following high school. He wanted to carry on the family tradition and was particularly drawn to serve during wartime. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2006.

While there, his platoon was assigned to patrol the only road through the valleys in the region where they were based. During this operation, he was in a truck that was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). While no one suffered from shrapnel injuries, everyone in the truck was rendered unconscious. Despite back and shoulder injuries – as well as hearing loss and severe headaches – Brinch refused anything more than shots to remain in Afghanistan and not be sent home.

Later in his deployment, his platoon was assigned to secure an extremely remote area that was thought to be a potential hiding place for Osama Bin Laden. It was there that his truck was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), giving him his third concussion.

He returned from his deployment in 2007 and was medically retired in 2010. During his service, he received numerous commendations including Combat Action Badge, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal plus many more.

“We are so blessed to work in the building industry and with organizations such as Eagle Metals and American Truss who strongly supports our veterans,”

The mission of Operation FINALLY HOME is to provide homes and home modifications to America’s military Heroes and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms and values. They partner with suppliers, corporate sponsors, builder associations, builders, remodelers, developers, individual contributors, and volunteers to help these Heroes and their families by addressing one of their most pressing needs – a place to call home. To date, Operation FINALLY HOME has provided over 200 homes in 34 states – and continues to grow!

Eagle Metal Products is proud to work with great customers like American Truss and we’d like to thank them for donating the roof truss system for such a great cause. The Brinch family will receive the keys to their mortgage-free home on January 31, 2018.
